Drupalaton 2013 - beach fun at the longest DrupalCamp in Europe!

Senior Developer Engineer, Drupal Architect

After turning Szeged into Drupaltown in 2008, the Hungarian Drupal community is taking it a step further by organizing Drupalaton, the longest drupalcamp in Europe so far. The event takes place from 15 to 18 August 2013, at the breathtaking shore of the biggest warm-water lake in Europe, at Lake Balaton in Hungary. Four days in perfect balance of work and leisure, sessions, sprints, beach sports, great food, world class wines, ultimate awesomeness day and night. The camp will give you the opportunity to attend a Drupal event and have a nice summer vacation at the same time. The location is suited for families as well, so don’t hesitate to bring your spouse and children. This post introduces the location and tourist attractions, but we will also have a post with information about the professional program later. Lake Balaton is the largest lake in Central Europe with the average water temperature at 25°C (77 F) in the summer. Bathing, sailing and other water sports are popular, most of the beaches consist of either grass, rocks, or the silty sand that also makes up most of the bottom of the lake. Many resorts have artificial sandy beaches and all beaches have step access to the water. Other tourist attractions include sailing, fishing, and other water sports, as well as visiting the countryside and hills, wineries.

The event is held in Keszthely, located in the northern west end of Lake Balaton, very close to wine regions known to produce high quality white wines from locally cultivated varieties. This is the third time in a row that fellow Hungarian drupalists organise a camp at this beautiful place and the first time it’s organised as an international event. Each event in the past was a huge success, participants were barely willing to leave the camp after the wonderful time they spent together, now we want to share this experience with the international community. The attendance fee is 30€, registration will be open soon. You can already submit session proposals, all sessions are held in English. Sponsors are welcome. The sponsorship will be used to secure the venue and provide all the services the camp needs to run smoothly. Sponsoring this event will give you and your organisation exposure in this vibrant community and will help you find talented drupalists to rock the world with.
