ITrainee 2015: Interview with Kitti

Senior Technical Writer
Oct 16, 2015

This year saw the renewal of Pronovix’s ITraining program open to university students, recent graduates or those seeking a change or new career. Members of the Pronovix Recruitment lab selected three participants, who were then given the chance to learn about web development and observe the Pronovix workflow environment.
Our carefully assembled team of dedicated mentors set up the timeline, defined the goals and established the correlating tasks the participants would be undertaking.

Our three trainees in the Pronovix ITrainee program 2015 were Kitti Radovics, Bence Göbölös and László Brindza. We ended the program by interviewing our trainees regarding their reasons for joining, their experiences and their overall impression. Read on to learn what Kitti had to say.

stv: How do you feel now that your training has come to an end?

Kitti: I think it was a really good program and opportunity. So, I tried hard to put as much effort as I could into it. I have had a good experience with this program from a professional and personal point of view.

stv: What is the most valuable experience that you’ve gained from this training?

Kitti: On the one hand, I acquired a completely new set of knowledge and skills, as I haven’t learned web programming from the University. On the other hand, I really was part of the company and I could take a look into the professional world that way. It was a completely new experience and it means quite a lot to me.

stv: How did the program differ from your expectations?

Kitti: I expected a little bit more of project management related tasks, but I don’t believe it is a problem, because I’m interested in the front-end and I gained a deeper understanding of it. I learned a lot of HTML and CSS. Of course, I have to learn a lot more, but now I’ve a better insight into these things. I realized I’m very interested in programming, so I don’t mind; I had less tasks as a project manager but I still got to learn about the basics of project management.

As a matter of fact, I learned a lot more and you paid more attention to us than I expected.

The final project, Robin [a workflow/process management platform prototype], was really hard and the first writing exercises about Drupal were also quite difficult as I’ve never worked with Drupal before. I’m glad I had the chance to face these challenges; I don’t think there is another way to grow.

Essentially, I didn’t expect the program to be so intensive.

stv: What was the most interesting part of the training?

Kitti: Definitely, it was Robin. I mean the landing page was a good introduction to the program. We could learn the basics during this project and get used to the workflow. From the start Robin was thrilling. It was complex, we could share our opinions with Kristof about it and he gave us advice and direction; the collective work, the collaboration was exciting.

stv: What is your opinion on the internal communication?

Kitti: I think it is one of the most important strengths of the company. It’s not just based on my personal experience, but what I have observed. You communicate very effectively with each other and you are mindful of your colleagues. That’s nice, that’s really nice. I could ask you anything, anytime when I had any kind of questions.

At first, it was strange to communicate almost always via online.

stv: Strange?

Kitti: I mean, unusual. For example, my first interview was via Skype. I haven’t experienced anything similar before, but we got used to it quickly. It makes the workflow more flexible.

stv: If you could add one more thing to the program, what would it be?

Kitti: It would have been great to participate on a company call or a standup, so being a bit more involved in the company life. I’m curious about the everyday workflow.

As a result of the program, Pronovix hired Kitti as a front-end developer. We are looking forward to working with her as a member of our tribe.
