I have been a developer at Pronovix for over 2 two years now. During this time I was either developing a .NET based web service or iOS applications, but what they all had in common was that they were communicating with a Drupal site. I was always on the dark side of Drupal until last week, when I attended my first international Drupal conference ever: Drupalcamp London…
The two-day event was hosted at City University London and more than 500 people attended. Sessions were held in 3 lecture rooms and there were code sprints and BOFs in over 5 rooms. For my Drupal-immature mind every session held new and practical information and between them I had the pleasure to meet members of the Drupal community. However my attendance wasn’t strictly for pleasure, I was planning to hold a workshop about Drupal - iOS integration.
Once I’ve got a room I was waiting for people to arrive. We started the workshop with 5 people attending. I was a little nervous because it was my first time leading such an event, but I was confident about my knowledge, so I knew everything would be all right. After a quick introduction and a high-level overview of the things you need to get started we got down to coding. After 150+ minutes we created our demo application that was able to do the following:
User authentication
Node creation from iOS user interface
Node querying in a bulk and displaying them in a TableView
Node querying by ID
Browsing our Drupal site through a WebView
In the end we all got really tired, but had a nice demo application up and running. After I got home from London we agreed we should do this at every event possible. Even more, we are considering 2-3 days courses about iOS - Drupal integration for Drupal developers. Where should I hold a training next?
