DevRelCon Tokyo 2017

Meet us at DevRelCon Tokyo 2017.

Kristof is talking at the conference about Developer engagement: strategy vs best practices:

"To win in competition, it is not sufficient to implement best practices: Doing so is only the bare minimum customers expect. To win in competition organisations need to invest strategically, choose to alienate some customers so they can fully embrace others.
This is the nature of strategy: make seemingly illogical choices, that others will never be able to follow. Choices that taken together, make you the best possible partner for your chosen group of customers.
This basic principle from business strategy also holds for developer portals.
In this talk I explain this principle, give examples of features on developer portals that can be considered best practices and features that can help to differentiate, and explain how these features improve DX and developer engagement with certain groups of customers.
I'll introduce a number of strategy archetypes that are being used by API teams to differentiate from their competition, explain how these strategies can be implemented, and talk about the types of developer portal features that can help you execute a similar strategy in your industry."
