About Kristof’s talk

Devportals & Developer eXperience – Documentation in the Age of Digital Transformation

No matter the industry, most enterprise companies are today working on, or at least planning a digital transformation program. Most of these programs center around the creation of a modernized REST API infrastructure. But at the core, this transformation is about much more than technology.

Four years ago, our company transformed itself into a developer portal consultancy, specializing in API documentation and devportals (in Drupal CMS). In this talk I want to share with you what we’ve learned about developer portals, and the types of documentation you need to create a great developer experience both for internal and external audiences.

I will finish the talk with an overview of the technologies API teams currently use to build their documentation sites, describing the core principles behind Docs as Code (a methodology in which all content e.g. Markdown and Open API Specification files are stored in a GIT code repository). Lastly I will explain why traditional (c)CMSs are losing ground in this space, and discuss what we can do to keep providing value to our customers and to stay relevant.

See you in Brussels!
