FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WalkHub crowdfunding campaign launched to build a community that will create the ultimate user guide to all of the Internet.

Belgium, June 20, 2014 - WalkHub, a GPS-like step by step tutorial system for online interfaces, has launched a crowdfunding campaign to organize events, where web application enthusiasts can collaboratively build the ultimate user guide to the Internet.

The project originally started with another successful Indiegogo campaign a year ago. That funding has been used to build WalkHub, an open source tool that records living Walkthrough tutorials that play on top of websites. With the tool it becomes easier and faster to record a Walkthrough than it is to create a video or screenshot tutorial. Because they run on top of a site, Walkthroughs are also more robust and can warn their author when they are broken. They are easily personalized and can be reused on sites that use the same software. The tool is currently in Beta, invites are available on the project page. To build your own WalkHub you can download the project from GitHub (the project is open source).

The funds collected in the current campaign will be used to organize one or several events where community members of different open source tools will work together to create a collection of free and open tutorials that work on their web applications.

The funds will also be used to develop an intelligent search system that will support users in finding tutorials. When a user enters a URL, WalkHub can compare that site with other sites people have played Walkthroughs on, and recommend relevant Walkthroughs even if nobody has ever created Walkthroughs for that specific domain before. It is WalkHub’s goal to provide effortless documentation for end-users, site administrators and editors.

WalkHub is a project by Pronovix, a Belgian-Hungarian software development company with strong roots in the Drupal and open source community.
