Working at Pronovix: Kata on Board

As the first community manager of the company, I will face a lot of interesting and inspiring challenges. I will be working closely with the WalkHub community in the Walkthrough.it project. I think together we can build an awesome community of self-learners. I also hope I will be able to contribute a less represented viewpoint to the Drupal community about how gamification could be a useful tool instead of being a trivial concept. I’m also really excited to join the Pronovix team. I’ve known the team for a while now and I found out a long time ago how everybody feels at home in this friendly atmosphere. Pronovix gives us the opportunity to shape our jobs so that everyone can achieve their full potential. As a psychologist, it’s a great opportunity to be part of open source projects and collaborate with their communities. I have always been fascinated by the dynamics and altruism of these communities. Although this role is new for me, I’m really motivated to be a useful member of my tribe and our community. But who am I anyway? During my university years I got interested in the psychological background of online games. Me and two of my friends formed a research group and we started exploring what motivates Hungarian online gamers. After 2,5 years of research I was so immersed in the topic that this hobby became a job (but a good kind of job!). So I carried on as a research psychologist and a Ph.D student. During this period I learned a lot about gamification and applied technical psychology which drove me to the field where I’m now (a dream come true). Just before I joined Pronovix, I joined the Szegedboost team, where I'll be working with Zsofi and other Boost team members to help and support startup projects in our area. I'm really lucky that my job is an immersive hobby, that I can share with a great team working towards a big goal: jump starting a new tool and community for collaborative learning.
