The goal of the DevPortal Awards is to recognize the best developer portals and learn from their practices. In our previous post we already shared the jury’s reasoning for choosing the winners, but of course we were thrilled to hear the opinion of the other side, the teams that made their portal an awarded success!

What are the world's best devportals? What do they do differently? Are there any best practices that everybody could and/or should be doing? Our primary aim with the Devportal Awards was to answer these questions - or at least trigger a discussion about them.

Users today expect their music, videos and pictures to be available anywhere at anytime. Developers need APIs that can provide this to end users, but they also need developer portals that enable them to integrate these APIs into their applications as efficiently and quickly as possible. In this post we provide some great examples from a selection of such publicly available developer portals.

The goal of our API Documentation Apprenticeship program is dual. It provides technical writer skills for our clients and it is an opportunity for novice API documentarians to gain credentials by working on enterprise projects under the guidance and supervision of experienced mentors.

In the third part of the series we focus on companies that provide APIs in the field of telecommunication. We included examples both from telecommunication carriers such as Orange or Telenor and from API vendors such as Nexmo or Twilio.

In this talk Kristof explains the differences between public and private APIs, introduce upstream developer experience, and explain how it can improve downstream DX. Introduce experience design (a.k.a. gamification) and Innersourcing (open sourcing practices behind the firewall) and describe how they could be used on internal developer portals.
